Dragon is an interdisciplinary meditation on the possibilities that lie beyond power. Bringing together three celebrated female artists from the fields of dance, theatre, and music, Dragon explores the complexities of adaptation, the beauty of maturity, and the richness of experience when the desire for domination is replaced with the openness of embrace. Ultimately, Dragon collapses 400 years of embodied discovery and surrender into an immersive hour, in a sensorial and sensuous attempt to imagine beyond human awareness.

Come witness the premiere of a new work by Jace Eagle Bear, and selections from the film, Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon.
To celebrate Asian Heritage Month this year, Gai Lan Ensemble presents a unique concert featuring a new composition by our own erhuist Jace Eagle Bear, and the music which inspired him, such as the soundtrack from “Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon”.
“Qing” 青, is the Chinese word for the colour between blue and green. “Qing Yin” 青音, means blue/green sound, or Cyan Tones, evoking the colour and timbre of the concert itself. As a performance blending Chinese and western instruments, it’s something that also exists in-between.
Joined by our friends Kensington Sinfonia, the concert will present works by living Canadian and Chinese composers including Jace Eagle Bear, Tse Taishun, and Li Bochan, as well as some beloved traditional tunes.
A new show from the Old Trout Puppet Workshop and Mike Rinaldi.
The End is about the day that Death met Death – a puppet show with puppets so tiny that we can’t even see them, like an existential flea circus – but you can hear them, and imagine what’s happening to them, as if you were using audio binoculars.
