Students will learn their way around the machine through various projects and gain the foundational sewing skills to translate into future projects for themselves. Students will learn how to read patterns, how to use choose fabrics and patterns right for the projects they are making, how to embellish and decorate their projects with hand sewing techniques, and time permitting, repair skills, such as hems, and repairing rips and holes in creative ways. They will make simple and functional projects like a drawstring backpack ( to hold all the things) and pajama pants. The skills of sewing can seem daunting, but with the right instruction, it can be fun and sew much easier than you think!
