About the Artist:
Sean Drysdale graduated from Emily Carr College of Art and Design in 1984, where they studied photography. Subsequent studies in mathematics and computers at Simon Fraser University led to a career in information management.
They returned to photography as an art form in 2016. By 2023, they concluded that the world did not need another photographer. The label had always felt like a shirt occasionally worn but never entirely comfortable. Instead, they began calling themself a wanderer—a description that felt far more fitting. To Drysdale, this is a liberating and playful identity, one that frees them from unhelpful personal expectations and existential questions such as what defines a “real” photographer.
