Month of the Artist: Tory Manywounds is Rooted
Biracial artist Tory Manywounds, creator of Rooted, uses storytelling as a powerful tool for healing.
Using materials like resin, concrete and steel, Rooted explores aspects of Tory’s biracial experience through his own lens.
From a world bound by logic to one of colour and joy, I chose a life of creativity. – Tory Manywounds
Tory Manywounds’ exhibition, Rooted, had its beginnings in March 2023 as an artist-in-residency experience at cSPACE Eau Claire. During this residency, Tory, an emerging artist, had the unique opportunity to nurture his artistic talents. This allowed him to delve deeper into the storytelling inspired by his bi-racial cultural heritage. The result is Rooted, a captivating blend of artistic expressions, featuring a striking visual art exhibition of resin-based artworks, etchings, exquisite jewelry craftsmanship, and engaging public events.
Fast forward to this September, coinciding with the Month of the Artist, where Tory returns to Rooted with a fresh perspective.
