DESCRIPTION:Calling all Craftivists\, Sewists\, DIYers\, Designers\, and Artists!\nCome join us for our second Fabric Swap! Our first one was such a fun success\, we’ve decided to hold another! We all have fabric that we love but may never use\, right? Let’s stir up some new inspirational energy and trade with each other! We will have tables set up outside our studio on September 28th for you to lay down your fabric\, and peruse what each other has contributed. \nThe rules for our first swap are: \n* Clean\, useable fabrics only \n* Be thoughtful about the items you take\, and what you will make. Take what inspires you but also leave some for others to be inspired:) \n* You are not obligated to take anything with you\, but please also be thoughtful about the amount you drop off to us. \n* No notions or tools ( we want to keep it simple for our first year to work out any bugs!) \n* No clothing \n* Bring a bag to tote home your finds \nThe tables will be out all day from 11am to 4 pm – come chat with fellow fabric enthusiasts! Take in and take home some fabric! We will donate whatever is still with us at the end of the day to local schools. \nAfter you’ve perused the swap\, come into the studio and say hi! We will be having a Studio Fabric Sale this same weekend! Looking forward to seeing you all!

DESCRIPTION:Do you have that favourite vintage or fast fashion garment that you wish you could have forever\, and make in a million colours? Want to recreate it? Come join us in the bright & spacious riyoko studio to learn how to make a pattern\, sew a test fit\, and learn skills to remake the piece you want to wear time after time. \nThis class is five 3-hour sessions. The next sessions are: \nSaturday May 11\, 18\, 25 & June 1\, 8 – 10 am to 1 pm \n*Beginner sewing experience necessary. \n*Students will be asked to bring up to three simple pieces that they’d like to remake\, such as button up shirts\, blouses\, sweaters\, slip dresses\, pants or shorts (No zippers!). \n*Students are encouraged to bring their own supplies (pencil\, eraser\, pins\, measuring tape\, fabric scissors\, paper scissors) except rulers (which are available for class use\, or purchase in the Riyoko Work/Shop during the class) and paper which is supplied by Riyoko Work/Shop. \n*We believe in supporting small\, and local. The skills of sewing can seem daunting\, but with the right instruction\, it can be fun and sew much easier than you think! \nThis course is three 3-hour sessions. The next sessions is: \nApril 22\, 29 & May 6 – 6 pm to 9 pm \n*No prior sewing skills are needed for this class. Come work on your patternmaking and sewing projects in the beautiful Riyoko Work/Shop studio for an afternoon. Maybe you have projects that you have questions on? Get to know other participants and chat sewing and construction! Bring a couple friends and a have a little fun getting creative! \nThis course is one 5-hour session. The next session is: \nSaturday April 6 – 10 am to 3 pm \nand/or \nSaturday May 4 – 10 am to 3 pm \n$15/ session \n* We do have four sewing machines to rent ($10/ session). They must be reserved ahead of time. DESCRIPTION:Riyoko Work/Shop hosts All About Sleeves.  \nThis is a great follow-up to Pattern Making 101 offering skills to continue learning about fitting a beautifully tailored garment. Topics of discussion will include: \n1) proper measuring of the arm and how to alter the pattern accordingly\n2) how to calculate the perfect amount of sleeve cap ease\n3) what to do with those elbow darts!\n4) common and popular sleeve designs \nWorking hands-on\, students will develop their own reference pattern making notes. This course will be jam packed with serious skills. \nNext sessions is: \nTuesday April 16\, 23 & 30 – 6 pm to 9 pm \n*Prerequisite for this class is intermediate experience\, or Patternmaking 101 (https://riyoko.ca/products/patternmaking-103) \n*Class fees include all supplies except rulers\, tape\, and fabric scissors. Rulers are available for purchase from the instructor during the class.

DESCRIPTION:Like making your own clothes but have a hard time finding patterns with that perfect fit? Come learn the foundational concepts of pattern making through flat pattern drafting & 3D form alteration\, and tailoring. Learn how to take proper measurements\, adjust patterns\, cut\, and sew a muslin to create a custom pattern. \nThis course is five 3-hour sessions.
