SUMMARY:《因為愛所以革命》"Love in the Time of Revolution" Movie Screening
DESCRIPTION:【是他也是你和我的素人抗爭故事】\n【Ordinary people telling extraordinary stories】\n\n\n主辦 Host : Echo Theatre \n– 憑票入場，不設劃位。This is a General Admission event\, no seats will be assigned. Each ticket admits one. \n– 不設退票。Tickets are not refundable . \n-如有任何爭議，Echo Theatre 保留最終決定權。 In case of disputes\, Echo Theatre reserves the right for final decision. \n(Ngan Twinkle Chi-Sing\, 2022) \nHong Kong | 2022 | 107 mins | Cantonese with Chinese and English Subtitles \nEchoing with voices from the streets of Hong Kong\, “Love in the Time of Revolution” documents the passion\, spirit and sacrifice of ordinary Hong Kongers during a time of political and social upheaval. \nIn 2019\, Hong Kong government plans to introduce a law permitting the extradition of criminal suspects to Mainland China sparked a mass protest movement unprecedented in scale. The people of Hong Kong marched — 1 million strong\, then 2 million — to save what they saw as the city’s eroding freedoms and rule of law. When their demands went unheeded\, the protests intensified\, and the streets of Hong Kong became soaked in tear gas and blood as valiant frontline protesters clashed with riot police. Behind the frontliners stood a peaceful silent majority\, committed to a hard-won solidarity as they attempt to save the city that they love. \n“Love in the Time of Revolution” takes viewers onto the streets of Hong Kong\, to the very front lines of the protests\, and follows the stories of just some of the protesters and their fellow Hong Kong citizens. It tells their extraordinary stories: the stories of ordinary people at a pivotal moment in their city’s history\, as they experience hope and desperation\, love and heartbreak\, fighting for their home. \n*設映後坐談，可與導演於線上對談 \n*There will be a hybird post-screening discussion session with the director.

SUMMARY:Allergic to Water
DESCRIPTION:Allergic to Water\nA dark comedy about the world’s most famous mermaid \n A special presentation by \nInside Out Theatre & Wee Witches \n JUNE 8th & 9th @ 7:30 pm\, JUNE 10th @ 2:00 pm\n@ cSPACE Marda Loop (1721 29th St SW) \nDiscussion Panel June 10th after 2pm Show. The post-show discussion panel aims to offer an opportunity for our audience to engage in a conversation that extends beyond the show. It will offer a space to foster both an artistic conversation and a social conversation about the realities of chronic illness. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAllergic to Water\, created by Jacqueline Russell and performed in collaboration with musician Jeremy Gignoux\, tells the story of Melusina\, a mermaid trapped in a human body. SUMMARY:Hippocrates - Documentary Screening
DESCRIPTION:The 2023 Alberta election is imminent. Find out why the privatization of our healthcare system is a huge problem.\n\n\nHealthcare Documentary Screening – Calgary \nJoin us for an in-person screening of an eye-opening documentary that sheds light on the privatization of Alberta’s healthcare system. This event will take place on Thu May 18 2023. Health Law professors\, politicians\, healthcare workers\, and union leaders will be interviewed to find out who wins and who loses under a two-tiered healthcare system. More broadly\, the film will explore if Canadian universal healthcare is being threatened. \nThe documentary explores the challenges faced by patients and healthcare professionals alike and offers a unique perspective on the state of healthcare in Canada. After the screening\, we will have a Q&A session with U of C Health Law professor Lorian Hardcastle and filmmaker Kieran Fong. \nThis is a great opportunity to learn more about healthcare in Canada and connect with others who are passionate about improving the system.
