DESCRIPTION:Come learn how to create a proper pattern that will fit you perfectly!\nLike making your own clothes but have a hard time finding patterns with that perfect fit? Come learn the foundational concepts of pattern making through flat pattern drafting\, 3D form alteration\, and tailoring. Learn how to take proper measurements\, adjust patterns\, cut\, and sew a muslin to create a proper pattern. This class teaches you the foundational rules and language to begin creating your own custom patterns\, and the skills to adjust and fit patterns to fit you! \nThis course is five 3-hour sessions. This intro covers everything you need to know to get started.\n\n\nIntroduction to Wood Burning (Pyrography) for Beginners \nLearn something new and have fun during this hands-on workshop. This small class is perfect for those who are new to wood burning and want to explore the art of pyrography. This is also a good opportunity to try the Razer Tip Woodburning tool before you buy one. \nYou will learn step by step how to create a wood burned work of art. Little art experience is necessary just some time and patience. There is something very soothing and relaxing about burning patterns into wood. You will learn how to use the wood-burner safely. We will go over the difference between the wood burning tools that are available. You will learn how to transfer your drawing onto the wood\, which wood works best\, and how to add a bit of colour. \nWood is supplied and the tool that we use is the Razer Tip woodburning system. Feel free to bring your own reference material to trace or draw from or use templates provided. Some people freehand and just go for it and some people use reference material and trace their design. You can also do a bit of both:) Magically everyone does something totally different and unique to them! This event will merge artistic expression with cutting-edge science to provide unique education about women’s distinct cardiovascular health experiences and challenges throughout their reproductive lifespan. \nWe’ll begin the afternoon with an interactive educational panel presentation that will feature dynamic women’s cardiovascular scientists who will share insights on key topics in women’s cardiovascular health. \nFollowing the panel\, we’ll explore how novel scientific knowledge related to these complex topics has been translated into visual art. DESCRIPTION:Come learn how to sew\, and start making your own projects.\nJoin us in the spacious and inspiring new Riyoko Work/Shop and learn the fundamental beginner skills to get on your way to exploring and creating! In this class\, students will learn their way around the machine through various projects and gain the foundational sewing skills to translate into future projects for themselves. Students will learn how to read patterns\, and how to choose fabrics and patterns right for the projects they are making. They will make a reversible\, lined gift bag\, pyjama pants\, and learn how to hem pants\, and sew zippers. The skills of sewing can seem daunting\, but with the right instruction\, it can be fun and sew much easier than you think! \nThis course is three 3-hour sessions.
