DESCRIPTION:Send in the Clowns\ncSPACE Marda Loop\nStudio Theatre\nFebruary 13\, 7:30 PM. Doors at 7:00 PM \n  \nWhat could you expect when music creation was inspired by a clown? Icarus 3 is an improvising trio composed of Jeremy Gignoux (violin/viola)\, Keith Rodger (double bass)\, and Robin Tufts (drums\, percussion). They created their original repertoire in an unusual and experimental way: with the help of the clown. Under guidance from clown performer and educator Jacqueline Russell\, they explored their inner clowns\, which gave birth to musical compositions and improvisation games that display a joyful and wild creative energy. In a special performance\, you can expect a fun show\, stories\, emotions\, and characters are all brought to life through music\, movement and theater. \n  \nWhat can you expect from the show?  \nYou will see musicians play music but also move around the stage and be silly. The music has elements of jazz\, classical music\, traditional music\, and lots of improvisation. At times\, it will be very exploratory\, showcasing unconventional playing techniques\, at other times it will be more down to earth. We also have a few games in store. \nWith ISC on stage will be Jacqueline\, who will act as a clown-provocateur/ring leader. This enriching cultural afternoon celebrates Blackfoot knowledge\, art\, and storytelling. Space is limited\, and registration is required. \nGuided by Elder Joyce Healy of the Kainai First Nation\, participants will be introduced to the teachings of the Medicine Wheel and will create a personal wheel to take home. \nFollowing this\, participants will explore Blackfoot cosmology and creation stories through a hands-on painting session led by interdisciplinary artist Chataya Holy Singer. Attendees will learn the meanings behind traditional Blackfoot designs and symbols while creating a night-sky painting inspired by these teachings. \nThis meaningful and creative experience offers a unique opportunity to learn\, reflect\, and connect with Indigenous culture\, while leaving with two original artworks that honor Blackfoot heritage. \nAbout Bridging Cultures: This event is part of Bridging Cultures\, an initiative dedicated to celebrating Indigenous heritage and fostering connection through community programs. SUMMARY:Workshop: CreativiTEA - Presence through Painting
DESCRIPTION:What could be better than art-making\, self-discovery and tea? Learn how the act of painting can calm the mind in this workshop for adults.\n\n\n\nAn introduction to acrylic painting workshop that emphasizes the use of painting as a tool for mindfulness by centring one’s focus on working with the paint in the present moment. \nIn the workshop\, Athena calls on her over 20 years of experience in painting and teaches participants the basics of tracing a design onto a canvas\, applying paint and blending colours. This method of working encourages participants to push past the hurdle of the blank canvas\, allowing them to fully enjoy the benefits of experiencing a painting practice. \nThe inspiration for this workshop came from Athena’s experience with using a paint-by-number kit to create a soothing\, healing environment after a seizure scare in 2021. Using painting as part of her recovery reinforced her belief that by focusing people on the process of painting—as opposed to the final product—one could create a highly beneficial tool for mindfulness and emotional regulation. \n\n\n\n\n\n  \nWhat is a CreativiTEA? \nCreativiTEA is an in-person workshop series for grown-ups created by Tilted Windmills that combines fun\, insightful art-making activities with community-building through creativity. \nEach two-hour CreativiTEA session includes: \n\nA guided creative activity with all art supplies provided\nSocializing and discussion with tea and delicious goodies—also provided\n\n  \nWhat you don’t need to bring to CreativiTEA? \nAny concerns about your perceived “artistic ability” or level of “talent”! DESCRIPTION:Hallway Gallery: Enchanted Matter by Festival of Animated Objects\ncSPACE Marda Loop\nLevel 1\nMarch 9 – 20\, 2026\n8:00 AM – 8:00 PM (Closed Sundays) \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n“Enchanted Matter: Puppetry\, animation and magic” invites audiences into a world where imagination brings the inanimate to life. This exhibition celebrates the power of puppetry and video art together; art forms that not only bridge sculpture\, theatre\, and storytelling\, but are also imbued with spells and intention. \nThe artworks featured in this exhibition blur the boundaries between stillness and motion\, material and spirit. They conjure movement within stillness\, give breath to the lifeless\, and awaken the mythical beings within these objects. Each artwork pulses with the intent of its maker\, reflected in the characters\, scenery and videos featured throughout the exhibition. For each of these artists\, the process is just as important as the final creation. Hidden sigils of empowerment\, appreciation for the small things that surround them\, and a reconnection with inner playfulness and whimsy\, all inform what moves these artists to create. \n“Enchanted Matter: Puppetry\, animation and magic” welcomes you to explore the work of Abbey Leach\, Kathy Austin and Stephanie Quilliams\, and to witness the magic that fills the gallery.

DESCRIPTION:Finding Peace & Joy Within\nThis weekly meditation group for CALL members has returned by popular request. Each session includes periods of meditation (sitting comfortably in chairs) to allow participants the opportunity to experience the benefits for themselves\, and the opportunity to share experiences and insights with others. About half of the session will be talk/discussion and about half will be meditation. \nIf you are not a CALL member\, you can join for the annual fee of $50 and attend this and many other interest groups.
