DESCRIPTION:cSPACE Marda Loop\nGallery Level 2\nThe Month of April – HELD OVER \n\nMotto:  \nThere is a crack\, a crack in everything. \nThat’s how the light gets in. \n(Leonard Cohen\, Anthem) \n\nA collection of B&W photographs that explores the power of the sun light and its interaction with our daily living. The photographs will take the viewer through the same apartment at different times of the day\, from waking to night. The images let you discover new interesting details of the living spaces that may be otherwise forgotten. \n\nArtist’s Statement – Tony Settari\nTony Settari\, born and trained in the Czech Republic\, developed an early passion for art and music alongside a career in engineering. After moving to Calgary in 1969\, he was inspired by an Ansel Adams retrospective\, which ignited his interest in large-format photography. While his professional career in academia and consulting limited his artistic pursuits for some time\, retirement allowed him to fully return to photography. Today\, his work blends traditional analog techniques with digital processes\, focusing primarily on black-and-white imagery that emphasizes simplicity and minimal reliance on technology.

Learn the traditional egg decorating technique using wax resist with dyes\, with traditional Ukrainian symbolism at the Alberta Craft Council on March 29th\, 2025\, form 12 – 4pm. Just in time for Easter festivities! \nPamela Shapka\, like many Ukrainians\, was brought up writing pysanka from a young age. Using a wax resist method and either layering dyes from lighter to darker\, or etching from dark or colored shells to white\, traditional Ukrainian symbolism will be used to create your own pysanka to take home. Customs related to the craft of writing pysanka\, varying methods and symbolism will be shared. Handouts and all supplies will be provided.

DESCRIPTION:THEATRE ENCOUNTER presents A NEW PLAY BY AMOS ALTMAN\nIn this uniquely Albertan farce\, inspired by “bedroom farces” such as One Man\, Two Guvnors and Three’s Company\, an enigmatic drifter by the name of Oakley arrives at the rural home of Dick Bigman\, with the goal to swindle the lavish ranch for as much as they can get. Innuendo pushes into raunchiness when Oakley finds themself the romantic object of the rancher’s wife\, servants\, and maybe even the lovely farmer’s daughter. \nIn this new performance experiment\, the Encounter company explores the intersection of Farce and Expressionism\, to see how their distinctive approach to physical performance can inform a comedic work. Come learn the foundational concepts of pattern making through flat pattern drafting\, 3D form alteration\, and tailoring. Learn how to take proper measurements\, adjust patterns\, cut\, and sew a muslin to create a proper pattern. DESCRIPTION:March 18\, 2025\nReception (opening vernissage) \n\nMotto: There is a crack\, a crack in everything. \n               That’s how the light gets in. \n              (Leonard Cohen\, Anthem) \n\nA collection of B&W photographs that explores the power of the sun light and its interaction with our daily living. The photographs will take the viewer through the same apartment at different times of the day\, from waking to night. The images let you discover new interesting details of the living spaces that may be otherwise forgotten. \n\nArtist’s Statement – Tony Settari\nTony Settari\, born and trained in the Czech Republic\, developed an early passion for art and music alongside a career in engineering. After moving to Calgary in 1969\, he was inspired by an Ansel Adams retrospective\, which ignited his interest in large-format photography. While his professional career in academia and consulting limited his artistic pursuits for some time\, retirement allowed him to fully return to photography. Today\, his work blends traditional analog techniques with digital processes\, focusing primarily on black-and-white imagery that emphasizes simplicity and minimal reliance on technology.
