SUMMARY:Workshop: CreativiTEA - Presence through Painting
DESCRIPTION:What could be better than art-making\, self-discovery and tea? Learn how the act of painting can calm the mind in this workshop for adults.\n\n\n\nAn introduction to acrylic painting workshop that emphasizes the use of painting as a tool for mindfulness by centring one’s focus on working with the paint in the present moment. \nIn the workshop\, Athena calls on her over 20 years of experience in painting and teaches participants the basics of tracing a design onto a canvas\, applying paint and blending colours. This method of working encourages participants to push past the hurdle of the blank canvas\, allowing them to fully enjoy the benefits of experiencing a painting practice. \nThe inspiration for this workshop came from Athena’s experience with using a paint-by-number kit to create a soothing\, healing environment after a seizure scare in 2021. Using painting as part of her recovery reinforced her belief that by focusing people on the process of painting—as opposed to the final product—one could create a highly beneficial tool for mindfulness and emotional regulation. \n\n\n\n\n\n  \nWhat is a CreativiTEA? \nCreativiTEA is an in-person workshop series for grown-ups created by Tilted Windmills that combines fun\, insightful art-making activities with community-building through creativity. \nEach two-hour CreativiTEA session includes: \n\nA guided creative activity with all art supplies provided\nSocializing and discussion with tea and delicious goodies—also provided\n\n  \nWhat you don’t need to bring to CreativiTEA? \nAny concerns about your perceived “artistic ability” or level of “talent”! The workshops are intended for anyone who wants to explore art-making and dive headfirst into the world of creativity. \nTickets are limited! If you can’t make this workshop\, we encourage you to follow our Eventbrite page to be notified of future workshops. \n\n\n\nYour CreativiTEA facilitators \nAthena splits her time between being a professional visual artist and a creativity coach with Tilted Windmills. By blending her training as both a therapeutic arts practitioner and a life coach\, she helps people tap into their creativity and potentially draw forth unexpected insights from the more visual side of their minds. \nStefan is Tilted Windmills’ clinical counsellor and a self-described wounded healer. He holds a Master’s degree in Social Work (clinical specialization) from the University of Calgary and strongly believes in the power of utilizing creativity as a pathway to help people explore\, discover and grow. \n\n\n\nYour Event Venue Host: \nAtelier Artista @ cSPACE Marda Loop (4th floor) \nAtelier Artista is a skills-based fine art school focused on fostering appreciation and understanding of well-crafted\, beautiful representational artworks through the development of the technical skills necessary to create them. They offer a wide variety of courses in drawing and painting techniques. \nWait! Isn’t cSPACE closed on Sundays? \nCreativiTEA is considered a private event being hosted by Atelier Artista\, so rest assured\, we will be waiting at the doors to let folks in.

DESCRIPTION:Hallway Gallery: A Tasting Menu by May B\ncSPACE Marda Loop\nLevel 3 Gallery\nMarch 2 – 30\, 2026\n8:00 AM – 8:00 PM (Closed Sundays) \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nOpening Reception: March 9th 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM \n\n\nAfter years of reflection on how to present herself through her art\, May B drew inspiration from her relationship with food. Having spent much of her life in kitchens\, she began to wonder:\n\nHow would a chef introduce themselves?\n\n‘A Tasting Menu’ is presented as a 12-course menu\, where each painting is a snapshot—a carefully curated plate that blends emotions\, memories\, and circumstances into a singular experience. Every “course” explores her favourite flavours and how they have shaped her. These paintings act as a visual pairing\, crafted to evoke a sensory experience that is deeply personal\, yet universal.\n\n‘A Tasting Menu’ is not just a collection of artworks—it’s an intimate invitation to join her for dinner.

SUMMARY:Hallway Gallery: Holding Ground by Monica Kidd & Eveline Kolijn
DESCRIPTION:Hallway Gallery: Holding Ground by Monica Kidd & Eveline Kolijn\ncSPACE Marda Loop\nLevel 2\nMarch 2 – 27\, 2026\n8:00 AM – 8:00 PM (Closed Sundays) \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nEveline Kolijn and Monica Kidd present a photographic inquiry of coastlines at cSPACE. \nCoastlines are dynamic by nature—meeting places where roads end and the ocean takes over\, where ships arrive and depart carrying both possibility and peril. They are the last stop before the horizon: liminal spaces where the boundary between land and not-land is constantly in flux. They are also increasingly endangered. As the planet warms\, sea levels rise and storms intensify\, threatening the health and wellbeing of more than half a billion people living in coastal regions worldwide. \nThis exhibition features photographs of people and places affected by coastal erosion\, created by Calgary-based artists Monica Kidd and Eveline Kolijn\, both of whom bring deep environmental concerns to their work. The images represent projects undertaken in Newfoundland & Labrador\, the Magdalen Islands\, Tuktoyaktuk\, France\, Fiji\, Vanuatu\, and Curaçao. \nIn a time of rapid climate change\, these photographs aim to speak for the world’s oceans and the communities connected to them. \nOpening Reception: Thursday\, March 5\, 6:00–8:00 PM

SUMMARY:Hallway Gallery: Wild Art by Tanya Bilichenko
DESCRIPTION:Hallway Gallery: Wild Art by Tanya Bilichenko\ncSPACE Marda Loop\nLevel 4 Cupola Gallery\nMarch 2 – 30\, 2026\n8:00 AM – 8:00 PM (Closed Sundays) \nOpening Reception: March 4 | 5:30 PM – 7:00PM \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWild Art is Tanya’s first exhibition\, but painting has been part of her life since childhood.\nFor many years\, Tanya placed her artistic dream gently to the side — focusing on education\, work\, motherhood\, family\, and rebuilding life after forced emigration. Yet through every stage\, art remained my constant light. \nIn her most challenging transitions\, painting became refuge and meditation. Through color and movement\, she processed change\, fear\, hope\, and renewal. Nature and animals inspire me deeply. In their wildness\, she see’s truth\, resilience\, and freedom. Tanya’s work reflects this connection — a dialogue between inner strength and the natural world. \nThis exhibition is not just a presentation of paintings; it is a personal step into courage\, authenticity\, and sharing. \nMore from this artist: art-tanya.com

SUMMARY:Gallery Reception: Holding Ground by Eveline Kolijn and Monica Kidd
DESCRIPTION:Reception: Holding Ground by Eveline Kolijn and Monica Kidd\ncSPACE Marda Loop\nLevel 2\nMarch 6\, 2026\n5:00 PM – 8:00 PM \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nEveline Kolijn and Monica Kidd present a photographic inquiry of coastlines at cSPACE. \nExhibition Hours:\nMarch 2-27\, 2026.\n8:00 AM – 8:00 PM (Closed Sundays)

SUMMARY:Hallway Gallery: Enchanted Matter by Festival of Animated Objects
DESCRIPTION:Hallway Gallery: Enchanted Matter by Festival of Animated Objects\ncSPACE Marda Loop\nLevel 1\nMarch 9 – 20\, 2026\n8:00 AM – 8:00 PM (Closed Sundays) \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n“Enchanted Matter: Puppetry\, animation and magic” invites audiences into a world where imagination brings the inanimate to life. This exhibition celebrates the power of puppetry and video art together; art forms that not only bridge sculpture\, theatre\, and storytelling\, but are also imbued with spells and intention. \nThe artworks featured in this exhibition blur the boundaries between stillness and motion\, material and spirit. They conjure movement within stillness\, give breath to the lifeless\, and awaken the mythical beings within these objects. Each artwork pulses with the intent of its maker\, reflected in the characters\, scenery and videos featured throughout the exhibition. For each of these artists\, the process is just as important as the final creation. Hidden sigils of empowerment\, appreciation for the small things that surround them\, and a reconnection with inner playfulness and whimsy\, all inform what moves these artists to create. \n“Enchanted Matter: Puppetry\, animation and magic” welcomes you to explore the work of Abbey Leach\, Kathy Austin and Stephanie Quilliams\, and to witness the magic that fills the gallery.

SUMMARY:PRESENTATION: Festival of Animated Objects presents The Light of the Deep
DESCRIPTION:PRESENTATION: Festival of Animated Objects presents The Light of the Deep with Landon Krentz\ncSPACE Marda Loop\nLevel 4 – RGO Treehouse\nMarch 17\, 2026\n8:00 PM – 8:30 PM \n  \nTICKETS \n\n\nIncubator Year 1 Presentation\nThe Light of the Deep is a Sumain-led physical theatre and Visual Vernacular (VV) performance that follows two archetypal figures\, the Fisherperson and the Miner\, on an epic\, image-driven journey. Drawn together by a single glowing firefly\, they struggle\, collaborate\, and transform as they seek either to possess or to share the light.\nThe Fisherperson pursues his catch\, protective and stubborn. The Miner searches for gold\, driven by the desire to share what they discover. Along the way\, the light itself evolves\, shifting from firefly\, to moon\, to lightning\, to anglerfish bait\, constantly testing their relationship and philosophies. Through puppetry\, projection design\, and richly detailed VV\, the performance creates a dreamlike world of wetlands\, caves\, storms\, and oceanic depths.\nAt its heart\, The Light of the Deep asks: is light meant to be held close\, or set free for others? Through physical storytelling experienced by both Deaf and hearing audiences\, the performance explores themes of possession\, generosity\, and release.\nIn the final moments\, both characters achieve what they sought\, the Fisherperson catches a fish\, and the Miner unearths gold\, but realize their true task is to let the light go. What begins as a struggle over ownership resolves as a shared act of release\, offering audiences a visually striking meditation on longing\, freedom\, and the beauty of letting go.\nAdvisories & Accessibility:\nThemes of fear\nRuntime: 45 minutes\nThe Treehouse is located on the third floor of cSPACE Marda Loop\, which is a wheelchair accessible venue.\nIf you are a wheelchair user\, please select the wheelchair accessible ticket.\nIf you are purchasing a wheelchair accessible ticket\, please let us know in the notes if you will be accompanied by a non-wheelchair user.\nFor more information about the accessibility of the venue\, including a video walkthrough\, please visit: https://www.puppetfestival.ca/accessibility/cspace-marda-loop

This short excerpt from the work offers a surrealist glimpse into Jocelyn’s “living womb\,” reaffirming and rejoicing in the performance of womanhood as a never-ending rebellion that persists—even in the face of death.\nIncubator Year 1 Presentation \nThe presentation is accompanied by an artist talk\, featuring visual materials and reflections on the piece’s creation\, a show-and-tell of the production’s puppets with designer and builder Juanita Dawn\, and an open Q&A that invites curiosity and collective exchange with the audience.
