You will be printing your own beautiful linen holiday stocking. \nAbout the artist: Natalie Gerber began her studies in 1995 at The Natal Technikon\, in the Fashion Design program\, Durban (South Africa). After immigrating to Canada her interests in textiles and design developed while studying at The Alberta University of the Arts\, formerly known as Alberta College of Art + Design. Natalie earned a BFA Degree (with Distinction) in Fibre/Textiles in 2003\, and later in 2007\, a post-graduate Certificate in Creative Pattern Cutting for the Fashion Industry\, from the London College of Fashion in London (England). \nHaving recently completed a Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in Craft from the Alberta University of the Arts\, Natalie is currently engaged in a comprehensive exploration of the boundaries and potentialities of textile forms. His father focused on silver smithing\, ceramics and sculpting and his maternal grandmother was a landscape artist. \nJan immigrated to Canada in the late 60’s and for more than 35 years worked as a printer at the Calgary Herald newspaper. He has had a passion for art most of his life which influenced his children to take art degrees. \nJan pays attention to detail which is evident in his art. His drawings have intricate detail with repetitive patterns. His subject matter is surreal and imaginative. Jan is passionate about art and has devoted his entire life to creating his one of a kind masterpieces. \n

DESCRIPTION:Create a beautiful mixed media piece with zero experience. Explore a variety of paints and stains\, pyrography\, metal leaf and more.\n\n\nMixed Media Exploration! Methods and Mediums to Create Unique Art \nCreate a beautiful mixed media piece with zero experience. Explore a variety of paints and stains\, pyrography\, metal leaf and more. \nLearn something new and have fun during this hands on mixed media exploration. All supplies are included in this 4 hour workshop. This small class is perfect for those who are new to art and craft or mixed media. or looking for new inspiration to liven up your practice. This is also a good opportunity to try the Razer Tip Woodburning tool before you buy one if you are interested. In this 4 hour workshop you will learn step by step how to create a mixed media work of art. Little art experience is necessary just some time and patience. You will have the option of using a variety of paints\, including watercolour\, gouache\, acrylic and wood stain. You will learn about the properties of all of them and the order you want to use them. You will learn about composite metal leaf\, including gold\, copper and silver and how to apply it. You will have the option of using the wood burning machine to create your design or add some detail. We will go over how to apply 3-D objects with the best type of glue for the job and how to seal your work if necessary. Mixed media explorations can be used to create a new vocabuary for your artwork if you already have a practice or send you in the right direction with some foundtional skills if you are just starting out. If you choose to use the woodburning tool we will go over the difference between the wood burning tools that are available and how to incorporate the technique into mixed media work. Feel free to bring your own reference material to trace or draw from or use templates provided. Some people freehand and just go for it and some people use reference material and trace their design. You can also do a bit of both:) Magically everyone does something totally different and unique to them! It’s a fun thing to do for a date night or a new activity with friends or family. There are only 4 people maximum in a class\, ages 12 and up. DESCRIPTION:Finding Peace & Joy Within\nThis weekly meditation group for CALL members has returned by popular request. Each session includes periods of meditation (sitting comfortably in chairs) to allow participants the opportunity to experience the benefits for themselves\, and the opportunity to share experiences and insights with others. About half of the session will be talk/discussion and about half will be meditation. \nIf you are not a CALL member\, you can join for the annual fee of $50 and attend this and many other interest groups.
