SUMMARY:Camino\, an Exhibition from Greg Doherty
DESCRIPTION:Camino\, Greg Doherty\nLevel 2 cSPACE Marda Loop\nMarch 18-April 29 \nGreg draws his inspirations from art history\, nature\, light\, colours and shadows\, as shown in this exhibition. He collects the beauty of landscapes and will occasionally translate his feelings into an abstraction. \nArtist Statement \nMy original camino walk was from Saint Jean Pieds-de-Port in France to Santiago\, Spain for a total distance of 820 km. More recently\, my wife\, Lory and I\, have walked a couple more Caminos of Santiago. Our starting points have been Porto\, Portugal and Ferrol\, Spain. This latest walk included a trip to the “end of the world\,” Finisterre. \nAll along the different routes there is so much beauty. I have felt the need to respond to these beautiful scenes with some paintings. This show contains some of these efforts as well as a few other pieces that were inspired by our surroundings in Alberta. \nMy expressions move between representations and abstractions . The Camino of life moves me along a variety of roads and it is my goal to continue on this artistic path.

SUMMARY:Beyond Age: The Fabulous Over Forty Movement
DESCRIPTION:Beyond Age: Fabulous Over 40\, Laurie MacBrown Photography\ncSPACE Marda Loop\nLevel 1 Gallery \nBeauty doesn’t cease to exist because of an arbitrary age\, and it’s time to shatter the stereotypes that say otherwise. \n“Fabulous Over Forty” is our bold statement to the world: Women in their 40s\, 50s\, 60s\, 70s\, are gorgeous and worthy of display in an art gallery. \nAgain this year\, we’ve chosen boudoir portraiture as our medium—a choice that defies expectations and celebrates the unique confidence and sensuality that come with age. Through this second annual series\, we offer a collection of portraits and stories that reveal the confident\, diverse beauty of women who are proudly ranging in age from 40 to 77. \nJoin us in embracing a vision of beauty that grows and evolves throughout life. “Fabulous Over Forty” isn’t just an exhibition; it’s a movement\, inviting everyone to see the strength and confidence that come with every year lived and every experience gained.

SUMMARY:Alison Frank's Love Aquatic
DESCRIPTION:cSPACE Marda Loop\nLevel 2 Gallery\nApril 29-May 11\, 2024 \nLove Aquatic is an art exhibition featuring the painting\, drawing and photography by Alison Frank. It is the merger of her work as a visual artist and as a professional mermaid. Her paintings in this collection are inspired by the beauty experienced and captured through her freediving as a mermaid. The underwater world is a tranquil escape where time and daily pressures seem to dissolve. Water and the gravity free environment have many therapeutic healing benefits from fitness to pain relief. This solstice has been one component\, for her\, in managing a diagnosis with Multiple Sclerosis in a holistic approach. To this underwater world\, she adds her surreal and playful mix of characters. Children gravitate to water and the joy of swimming. As adults\, we often lose our affinity for this magical place. She visually shares the ephemeral beauty of the way water reflects light in a way we can never experience above the surface. Through this exhibition\, she hopes to connect to viewers in a way that might inspire them to revisit the water and experience it’s many benefits. \nInstagram: @snowbunnymermaid
