SUMMARY:Performance: Punch Line presented by Springboard Performance & Inside Out Theatre
DESCRIPTION:Punchline presented by Springboard Performance & Inside Out Theatre\ncSPACE Marda Loop\nStudio Theatre\nJanuary 31 | 7:00 PM – 8:00 PM\nFebruary 1 | 3:00 PM – 4:00 PM \n  \nPunch Line\, the new solo work by Jacques Poulin-Denis\, combines the kitschy energy of a one man show with the depth and intimacy of a confession. \nBy means of stories and anecdotes peppered with refreshing irony\, shrewdness and sweet madness\, he confides to the audience as intimate friends. From that spirited monologue characters emerge\, embodying multiple beings\, our numerous inner avatars as well as the strategies\, sometimes absurd\, that we adopt to hold our contradictions together. Threading his way along the fine line between reality and fiction\, he transforms inner discourses into a sensory experience that is both subtle and intense. He is a presenter of words\, thoughts and gestures. \nPunch Line is a series of confidences\, words made flesh\, where Jacques Poulin-Denis evokes diverse themes such as resilience and how we relate to ourselves and to others. By giving voice to his body he is also expanding the spectrum of the characters he portrays. \nPunch Line is\, of course\, the punch line of a gag. With their short format\, the jokes can in a very few words create a context that the audience subscribes to\, accepting any situation\, no matter how unreal. The title is a salute to the imagination of the artist and the spectator\, to their abilities and their need to believe in fiction\, to disguise reality and thereby make it more acceptable. \n  \nTickets and Information: Showpass \n

SUMMARY:PERFORMANCE: My Great Work by David Espinosa
DESCRIPTION:PERFORMANCE: My Great Work by David Espinosa\n  \ncSPACE Marda Loop\nLevel 1 – Studio Theatre\nFebruary 6\, 2026\n7:00 PM – 8:00 PM \n  \nWorking with the mindset of an architect\, Espinosa constructs a vast “mega-production” with miniature figures\, objects\, and a tabletop that is both stage and world. This intimate performance\, designed for just 20 spectators seated around a table\, transforms models typically used to plan buildings into a space where ideas\, images\, and actions unfold with surprising emotional force. \n“My Great Work is what I would do if I had an unlimited budget\, the largest theatre in the world\, 300 actors on stage\, a military orchestra\, a rock band\, animals\, cars and a helicopter.” -D. Espinosa \nAt a scale of 1:87\, My Great Work captures the grandeur of human existence with the humblest of means. A marvel of simple\, visual storytelling\, it connects us to each other with infinite complexity. \nMy Great Work reflects on the precarious conditions under which most artists operate\, where creativity often emerges from scarcity rather than abundance. By shrinking an extravagant spectacle down to miniature scale\, Espinosa exposes the contradictions of large\, high-budget cultural productions: their excess\, their fragility\, and their relative artistic value. \nA playful yet incisive portrait of the world we build and the dreams we chase\, My Great Work is as intimate as it is expansive. \nAdvisories and Accessibility\n\nFor mature audiences\nLimited to 20 spectators per performance.\n\nFor detailed information about the venue’s accessibility and barriers\, please visit https://www.puppetfestival.ca/accessibility/cspace-marda-loop \nWhen checking out\, there is a field to enter your accessibility requirements. Please let us know if you are a wheelchair user so our ushers are prepared to reserve a space for you. If you do not have accessibility requirements\, please write N/A. \nStudents and audience members needing lower-cost tickets may use the code MGWSTUDT for $25 tickets. \n  \n Tickets & Information: www.showpass.com/my-great-work/?no-cache=1

SUMMARY:Event: Send in the Clowns
DESCRIPTION:Send in the Clowns\ncSPACE Marda Loop\nStudio Theatre\nFebruary 13\, 7:30 PM. Doors at 7:00 PM \n  \nWhat could you expect when music creation was inspired by a clown? Icarus 3 is an improvising trio composed of Jeremy Gignoux (violin/viola)\, Keith Rodger (double bass)\, and Robin Tufts (drums\, percussion). They created their original repertoire in an unusual and experimental way: with the help of the clown. Under guidance from clown performer and educator Jacqueline Russell\, they explored their inner clowns\, which gave birth to musical compositions and improvisation games that display a joyful and wild creative energy. In a special performance\, you can expect a fun show\, stories\, emotions\, and characters are all brought to life through music\, movement and theater. \n  \nWhat can you expect from the show?  \nYou will see musicians play music but also move around the stage and be silly. The music has elements of jazz\, classical music\, traditional music\, and lots of improvisation. At times\, it will be very exploratory\, showcasing unconventional playing techniques\, at other times it will be more down to earth. We also have a few games in store. \nWith ISC on stage will be Jacqueline\, who will act as a clown-provocateur/ring leader. As such\, she will react to the music they play but also prompt them to change the way we perform\, and help everyone connect with you the audience! \nTickets: www.instrumentalsociety.ca/sendintheclowns \n

DESCRIPTION:Film Screening: National Canadian Film Day Screening – I Like Movies\ncSPACE Marda Loop\nStudio Theatre\nApril 15\, 2026\n7:30PM | Lobby opens 6:30PM\nRuntime: 99 minute. Rated 14A  \ncSPACE is proud to be a screening partner for National Canadian Film Day – returning on April 15! \n\nCanadian films tell the stories that can only be told here. Join us on April 15 and dream big with a special FREE screening of “I Like Movies.” \n \nAbout the film: \nLawrence (Lehtinen)\, an awkward and anxious 17-year-old cinephile living in Burlington\, ON\, in the early 2000s\, believes that he is on the path to a legendary filmmaking career – but at this point\, it’s only gotten him as far as a job at the local video store. His blind ambition\, combined with his unique worldview\, confounds even those closest to him\, and he soon starts to alienate his new manager Alana (D’Ugo) and even his best friend (Hynes White)\, forcing him to decide what he’s willing to sacrifice on the road to success. \nA true movie for movie lovers\, Chandler Levack’s debut feature is a charming coming-of-age story that perfectly captures small-town Canadian adolescence. \nClick here to watch the trailer \n\nSee you on April 15th at 7:30pm for popcorn\, beverages and to enjoy Canadian film right here in our Studio Theatre at cSPACE MARDA LOOP. \nRSVP to reserve your FREE ticket here. \n  \n  \n
