DESCRIPTION:The cycles of birth\, life and death are a commonality shared across time\, cultures\, races and religions\, with rites of passage and initiation often forming core beliefs within a culture. Since our earliest records\, humans have made visual representations of our lives\, and for many centuries since\, artists have communicated spiritual concepts through visual means to create understanding for their communities. \nGiven this significance\, Ritual Arts invites artists to explore the stories\, memories\, ceremonies\, and deeper meanings of these cycles within their own personal and cultural contexts\, in order to express and dialogue between our unique viewpoints. \nJoin us in the beautiful cSPACE Marda Loop Studio Theatre for an exclusive performance showcase in conjunction with the ongoing Ritual Arts visual arts exhibition in the lower Gallery Hallway. Following the show will be an artist’s talk back\, audience discussion and conclusions on the questions we asked during the festival.  \nDisposable features nameless\, faceless beings who emerge from a box of tissues to begin a journey. It is a journey through a life marked by first encounters: surprise\, fear\, anger\, the inexplicable\, the other\, oneself… They explore the possibilities and push the limits with candor and amazement. Where will this journey take them?  One thing is certain: you’ll never see handkerchiefs in the same way again… \n“Puzzle Theatre has a unique style by combining various types in the traditional and the contemporary: drama theatre\, object and puppet theatre. The company distinguishes itself by the coloured amalgam of styles and the great diversity of means of expression that it proposes\, leaving the audience the freedom to interpret the unmentioned\, to freely associate ideas and allow it to feel what is not explicitly told.”  \nAge: While this show is appropriate for younger viewers\, it is part of our Festival of Ideas\, exploring puppet power in concepts of an adult level. We recommend ages 10+. \nAccessibility: We are committed to the purposeful inclusion of all people. We strive to reduce barriers and we value everyone’s participation in our programs.
