SUMMARY:PRESENTATION: Festival of Animated Objects presents The Light of the Deep
DESCRIPTION:PRESENTATION: Festival of Animated Objects presents The Light of the Deep with Landon Krentz\ncSPACE Marda Loop\nLevel 4 – RGO Treehouse\nMarch 17\, 2026\n8:00 PM – 8:30 PM \n  \nTICKETS \n\n\nIncubator Year 1 Presentation\nThe Light of the Deep is a Sumain-led physical theatre and Visual Vernacular (VV) performance that follows two archetypal figures\, the Fisherperson and the Miner\, on an epic\, image-driven journey. Drawn together by a single glowing firefly\, they struggle\, collaborate\, and transform as they seek either to possess or to share the light.\nThe Fisherperson pursues his catch\, protective and stubborn. The Miner searches for gold\, driven by the desire to share what they discover. Along the way\, the light itself evolves\, shifting from firefly\, to moon\, to lightning\, to anglerfish bait\, constantly testing their relationship and philosophies. Through puppetry\, projection design\, and richly detailed VV\, the performance creates a dreamlike world of wetlands\, caves\, storms\, and oceanic depths.\nAt its heart\, The Light of the Deep asks: is light meant to be held close\, or set free for others? Through physical storytelling experienced by both Deaf and hearing audiences\, the performance explores themes of possession\, generosity\, and release.\nIn the final moments\, both characters achieve what they sought\, the Fisherperson catches a fish\, and the Miner unearths gold\, but realize their true task is to let the light go. What begins as a struggle over ownership resolves as a shared act of release\, offering audiences a visually striking meditation on longing\, freedom\, and the beauty of letting go.\nAdvisories & Accessibility:\nThemes of fear\nRuntime: 45 minutes\nThe Treehouse is located on the third floor of cSPACE Marda Loop\, which is a wheelchair accessible venue.\nIf you are a wheelchair user\, please select the wheelchair accessible ticket.\nIf you are purchasing a wheelchair accessible ticket\, please let us know in the notes if you will be accompanied by a non-wheelchair user.\nFor more information about the accessibility of the venue\, including a video walkthrough\, please visit: https://www.puppetfestival.ca/accessibility/cspace-marda-loop

SUMMARY:PRESENTATION: Festival of Animated Objects presents Right Hand Woman
DESCRIPTION:PRESENTATION: Festival of Animated Objects presents Right Hand Woman by Jocelyn Mah\ncSPACE Marda Loop\nLevel 4 – RGO Treehouse (North)\nMarch 17\, 2026\n8:45 PM – 9:15 PM \n  \nTICKETS \n\nDeftly traversing the boundaries between dance\, theatre\, and puppetry\, Right Hand Woman is a comical feminist battle cry that shines a spotlight on the effects of misogyny on artists with the lived experience of womanhood. This short excerpt from the work offers a surrealist glimpse into Jocelyn’s “living womb\,” reaffirming and rejoicing in the performance of womanhood as a never-ending rebellion that persists—even in the face of death.\nIncubator Year 1 Presentation \nThe presentation is accompanied by an artist talk\, featuring visual materials and reflections on the piece’s creation\, a show-and-tell of the production’s puppets with designer and builder Juanita Dawn\, and an open Q&A that invites curiosity and collective exchange with the audience.

SUMMARY:Gallery Reception: Rebus Plates for our Times/Assiettes Rebus pour temps qui Courent
DESCRIPTION:Gallery Reception: Rebus Plates for our Times/Assiettes Rebus pour temps qui Courent\ncSPACE Marda Loop\nAlberta Craft Gallery – Level 2\nApril 11\, 2026\n1:00 PM – 4:00 PM\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nJoin Alberta Craft Council and Alliance Française at cSPACE for an afternoon of art\, ideas\, and community with Rebus Plates for Our Times / Assiettes Rébus pour Les Temps Qui Courent. \nBegin your visit on Level 4 in the RGO Treehouse with a thought-provoking craft talk\, Pictorial Puns: Rebus Plates for Our Times\, presented by craft historian Dr. Jennifer Salahub. This engaging talk explores the rich history of rebus imagery—visual riddles that combine pictures and letters to convey layered meanings—and their evolution from 19th-century French ceramic traditions into contemporary artistic practice. \nFollowing the talk\, head down to the Alberta Craft Gallery on Level 2 for the artist reception\, where you can experience the exhibition firsthand and connect with the work in a welcoming\, social setting. \nRooted in a historical tradition popularized by makers such as the Faïencerie de Gien in France\, rebus plates once conveyed everything from moral lessons to political commentary. Everyone is welcome to attend and experience the creativity and conversation unfolding within our community. \nThis exhibition is generously supported by Alliance Française. \n\nRSVP Online \n\nSCHEDULE: \n\n\n Craft Talk – 1:00 PM- 2:00 PM: Pictorial Puns: Rebus Plates for Our Times Talk with Dr. Jennifer Salahub\, Craft Historian\, RGO Treehouse 4th floor\, cSPACE\nArtist Reception – 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM: Alberta Craft Calgary\, 2nd floor\, cSPACE\n\nFree | Everyone Welcome

SUMMARY:Event: Crossing Boundaries - Finding the Moment | Book Launch
DESCRIPTION:Event: Crossing Boundaries – Finding the Moment | Book Launch\ncSPACE Marda Loop\nRGO Treehouse\nMay 7\, 2026\n5:00PM \nJoin photographer Dipankar Mukherjee for an intimate book launch set within his exhibition at cSPACE Marda Loop. \nCrossing Boundaries – Finding the Moment is a collection of images that invites viewers to pause\, reflect\, and engage. Moving across landscapes\, streets\, dwellings\, and human expressions\, the work explores the shared threads of our lived experience—what connects us\, what separates us\, and what remains unspoken. \nThis is not just a viewing\, but a conversation. The photographs are intended to spark dialogue—about where we live\, how we live\, and who we are becoming. As the book suggests\, photography is not merely a record of the past; it holds the power to shape how we see the future. \nFormat: Private book launch during the exhibition\nAccess: Limited seating (by invitation / prior contact) \nFor inquiries or to request access\, please contact:\n📩 dmukherjee5895@gmail.com \n
