My photography concentrates on natural landscapes and human architecture. I have a  landscape photography series called “The Sixteen\,” where I feature different landmarks of Alberta and different cities around the world. \nAs a photographer I am drawn to the beauty of simple images\, and I am always inspired by beautiful light. Photograph gives me the option to document what I see and what I feel. This is how I personally tell stories\, preserve memories\, and capture a moment. \nAdditionally\, I do portrait photography\, where I mainly focus on headshots\, couples and people who want to bring their personal brands to a different level.”

This work documents my unfolding relationship with the vast emptiness of the prairies. While I was instantly drawn to this province’s postcard mountainscapes\, I quickly realized that driving alone along long stretches of flatland highway stirred deeper feelings in me. These miles have become the road home. \n— \nAbout the Artist\nIan Martin Gregory grew up in Chelmsford\, England and moved to Canada in 2016. Done well\, a live performance photo can become a time capsule\, taking you right to the edge of a stage\, where the pulse of the lights\, the energy of a crowd and movement of the music collide into an iconic still frame. \nAs part of the Exposure Festival\, a collection of Calgary-based photographers present “Alive\, She Cried”\, a celebration of live music\, and the photography that gives the performance life after the stage lights have gone down. DESCRIPTION:cSPACE Marda Loop\nGallery Level 2\nThe Month of April – HELD OVER \n\nMotto:  \nThere is a crack\, a crack in everything. \nThat’s how the light gets in. \n(Leonard Cohen\, Anthem) \n\nA collection of B&W photographs that explores the power of the sun light and its interaction with our daily living. The photographs will take the viewer through the same apartment at different times of the day\, from waking to night. The images let you discover new interesting details of the living spaces that may be otherwise forgotten. \n\nArtist’s Statement – Tony Settari\nTony Settari\, born and trained in the Czech Republic\, developed an early passion for art and music alongside a career in engineering. After moving to Calgary in 1969\, he was inspired by an Ansel Adams retrospective\, which ignited his interest in large-format photography. While his professional career in academia and consulting limited his artistic pursuits for some time\, retirement allowed him to fully return to photography. Today\, his work blends traditional analog techniques with digital processes\, focusing primarily on black-and-white imagery that emphasizes simplicity and minimal reliance on technology.

DESCRIPTION:Exhibition: “Prairie Histories” by Corinne Cowell\ncSPACE Marda Loop\nGallery Level 3\nuntil May 5\, 2025 \nFrom the artist:\nThis ongoing series deals with narratives and memory as well as the environment and our place within it. A series of “prairie ghosts” speaks to the history and perseverance of family and struggle as well as the abandonment of those precious homesteads of the early 1900’s. These disturbed landscapes are fraught with memories\, long faded but still lingering. \nThe buildings\, straining to remain\, alone and resilient against the elements\, will ultimately disintegrate back into the landscape. This reclaiming by the land forms a series of mysteries\, offering a great depth for potential narratives. These are the stories I want to tell. \nThese pieces are made using my own photography\, which I transfer to the under painted surface.
