SUMMARY:Hallway Gallery: The Long Way Home by Jennifer Gregoire
DESCRIPTION:Hallway Gallery: The Long Way Home by Jennifer Gregoire\ncSPACE Marda Loop\nLevel 1 Gallery\nMarch 30 – April 13\, 2026\n8:00 AM – 8:00 PM (Closed Sundays) \n  \nThe Long Way Home is a collection of some of her favorite stops along those journeys. Each photograph reflects a moment where she chose to slow down and stay awhile. The images carry a sense of history\, nostalgia\, and connection to the land. \nThis work speaks to the importance of the journey as much as the destination. It invites viewers to take their time\, notice what is often overlooked\, and find meaning in quiet\, everyday places. \n  \nAbout the Artist: \n  \nJennifer Gregoire was born and raised in Calgary\, but it wasn’t until she moved to a small rural town that her perspective began to shift. Life slowed down\, the sky felt bigger\, and she found herself drawn to the quiet places in between. \nHer work is rooted in time spent on the road. She explores backroads across Alberta\, stopping whenever something catches her eye. An old truck\, a weathered building\, or a stretch of highway that feels unchanged. What began as a way to explore gradually became a way of seeing and understanding the landscape around her. \nShe often jokes that she is a professional road-tripper\, but in many ways it’s true.

SUMMARY:Hallway Gallery: Exposure Photography Festival x The Camera Store
DESCRIPTION:Exposure Photography Festival x The Camera Store\ncSPACE Marda Loop\nAll Levels\nFebruary 4 – February 28\n8:00 AM – 8:00 PM (Closed Sundays) \nReception: February 12 @ 5:30 PM – 8:30 PM | As part of cSPACE Marda Loop’s February Showcase Series \n\nThe Exposure Photography Festival is a month-long celebration of photography across Alberta.\nAs part of The Exposure Festival’s Partner Exhibitions\, The Camera Store will transform cSPACE’s four levels of Hallway Galleries with four compelling exhibitions\, offering a dynamic and meaningful celebration of photography’s lasting influence. \n\nLEVEL 1: My life through the lens – Julian Ferreira Exhibition\nJulian Ferreira\, known in the photographic community for being a passionate advocate of the philosophy “always have a camera with you.” Guided by this belief\, he continually observes and photographs the world around him\, creating images as he moves through his Southern Alberta prairie home. From quiet\, expansive landscapes to subtle moments of light and form\, his work is shaped by an ongoing dialogue between place\, presence\, and perception.  \nWorking primarily as a fine art black-and-white photographer and co-owner of The Camera Store\, Ferreira’s exhibition presents a selection of his most recent work. These photographs offer viewers an intimate glimpse into the way he sees\, thoughtful\, deliberate\, and deeply connected to the land he calls home\, inviting them to slow down and engage with the subtle beauty found in everyday surroundings. \n\nLEVEL 2: Brian Henson Memorial Exhibition\nBrian Henson was a highly regarded fine art photographer based in Calgary\, known for his dedication to traditional photographic processes and his striking hand-printed black-and-white work. He was also a longtime friend of The Camera Store and a valued presence within Calgary’s photographic community. Brian passed away in 2022\, leaving behind a meaningful and enduring legacy of meticulously crafted\, hand-printed and framed photographs that reflect both his artistic vision and his commitment to the medium.  \nIn accordance with the wishes of his estate\, Brian’s work will be offered for sale\, with all proceeds donated to the RESET Society of Calgary. RESET provides a comprehensive and compassionate system of support services in Alberta\, specifically designed to assist women who are survivors of sexual exploitation and human trafficking. Through this initiative\, Brian’s art continues to make a lasting impact\, honouring his legacy while supporting an organization dedicated to healing\, empowerment\, and positive change. \n\nLEVEL 3: Then & Now 30 Years of Calgary Photography\nIn celebration of 30 years within Calgary’s photography community\, The Camera Store is proud to present a special group exhibition. This milestone exhibition highlights the talent\, perspectives\, and creative evolution of Calgary’s photographic scene\, seen through the lenses of a selection of photographers who have helped shape and support it over the past three decades including\, George Webber\, Greg Fulmes\, Greg Gerla\, Jason Stang\, Jeff Bright\, John Dean\, Leah Hennel\, Maja Swannie Jacob\, Mark Vitaris\, Matt and Harry Palmer\, Mike Drew\, Steve Speer\, and\, Todd Korol.  \nThe images are presented side by side\, creating a visual narrative of time\, change\, and creative growth. This exhibition is made possible through the generous sponsorship of Sony Canada\, with additional support from ABL\, the official printing partner of the Exposure Photography Festival.\n \n\nLEVEL 4: The Camera Store Staff Exhibition\nThe Camera Store Staff Exhibition brings together the photographic voices of The Camera Store staff who live and breathe photography every day.  \nThis exhibition showcases a diverse range of work\, reflecting the varied perspectives\, styles\, and stories. From intimate personal projects to moments discovered in everyday life\, each photograph reveals how technical knowledge and creative curiosity intersect when the camera is a tool for expression.  \nThe Camera Store Staff Artists Featured: Ammar Khan\, (AJ) Amair Javaid\, Annabeth Trondsen\, Dave Paul\, Erfan Karimi\, Evelyn Drake\, Kai Niccolls\, May Shi\, Peter Gold\, Ron Bubnich\, Nicole Parker\, Ethan Yawney\, and Yuqi Li.  \n\n

SUMMARY:EXHIBITION: Gilded Memory\, Clouded Truth by Michelle Atkinson and Danielle Bartlette
DESCRIPTION:Gilded Memory\, Clouded Truth by Michelle Atkinson and Danielle Bartlette \ncSPACE Marda Loop\nLevel 1 \nSeptember 22 – November 3\, 2025\n8:00 AM – 8:00 PM (Closed Sundays) \nGildedMemory\, Clouded Truth presents the work of Michelle Atkinson and Danielle Bartlette\, two artists whose practices approach truth through layers of beauty\, memory\, and allure. \nAtkinson transforms raw climate data into silkscreened forms that recall clouds\, candy\, and dreamscapes. These luminous surfaces veil the wildfires and environmental upheaval beneath\, asking viewers to look closer at the stories we sugarcoat. \nBartlette’s mixed-media paintings reassemble memory through texture\, collage\, and embellishment. Her work navigates romance\, urban landscapes\, and personal history\, turning fragments of lived experience into lush abstractions. Placed side by side\, the works spark dialogue about what is hidden and what is revealed. Whether through the shimmer of glitter or the glint of gold leaf\, both artists remind us that surfaces hold weight — and beauty often conceals a more complicated truth. \nMore from the Artists: \nMichelle Atkinson – michelle-atkinson.ca \nDanielle Bartlette – neonmilkshake.com

SUMMARY:Exhibition: Fabulous Over 40 by Laurie MacBrown Photography
DESCRIPTION:Fabulous Over 40 by Laurie MacBrown Photography\ncSPACE Marda Loop\nGallery Level 1\nSeptember 8 – 20\, 2025\n8:00 AM – 8:00 PM (Closed Sundays) \n\n\n\nThis isn’t just pretty pictures. It’s a celebration of women who are part of a growing movement to challenge the false narrative that beauty fades with age. \nThe Fabulous Over 40 Art Exhibit shines a spotlight on the portraits and stories of women aged 40 and up. \nInstead of being shamed into the shadows\, each of these women chose to step into the light. \nThey said yes to a transformative boudoir portrait experience. They said yes to being seen. Boldly\, vulnerably\, and without apology. \nThe goal? To rewrite the story: Women over 40 are beautiful. The ticking clock is a myth. And the years ahead are something to look forward to. \nAs an artist and photographer\, my mission is to challenge outdated beauty standards and offer a new perspective. One that I see for myself every day as a boudoir photographer for women over 40. We’ve been sold a lie. There is no expiration date on beauty. Let me prove it to you! \nThis exhibit is proof that beauty exists in every chapter of life\, and that it’s never too late to feel truly seen. \nAbout the Artist \nWebsite: www.lauriemacbrownphotography.com \nYou may know me as your photographer\, but what you might not know is why I do this. \nI started photographing women to figure out the secret to looking good in photos\, because I never liked photos of myself\, and I thought there was something wrong with me. What I’ve learned is this: being photogenic is not about how you look on the outside. It’s about feeling beautiful and having someone capture that so you can see it too. \nToday\, I’m an accredited\, multi award-winning portrait photographer\, and my mission is to show women\, especially those over 40\, that every body is beautiful and worthy of being photographed\, even without clothes on. \nI invite you to see yourself\, and women like you\, in a whole new light.

SUMMARY:Opening Reception: Art in the Park
DESCRIPTION:Opening Reception: Art in the Park\ncSPACE Marda Loop\nGallery Level 1\nJuly 24\, 2025\n5:00 PM – 8:00 PM \n\n\nJoin us for the opening night reception of Art in the Park\n\n\nSee Canada’s wild beauty through the eyes of the twelve talented artists. Artists spent several days and nights exploring the lakes\, trails\, wildlife and spectacular views in Glacier National Park as part of the Art in the Park residency. \nPresented in partnership with Parks Canada and the Revelstoke Visual Arts Centre\, this unique artist residency program has brought creators into Glacier National Park’s breathtaking Rogers Pass since 2008. The result is a powerful collection of work that captures the majesty\, solitude\, and spirit of the Selkirk Mountains. \nThese artists were granted rare access to explore the park’s lakes\, trails\, and wildlife—living\, hiking\, and creating in one of Canada’s most rugged and spectacular environments. The pieces they produced span a wide range of styles and mediums\, from oils and infrared photography to ceramics and installation\, all rooted in firsthand encounters with the land. \nThis touring exhibition is a celebration of both artistic exploration and environmental connection—an invitation to experience the park through the eyes of those who walked its paths and translated its grandeur into deeply personal and evocative works of art. \nParticipating Artists: \n\nAbby Wilson | Nelson\nAmanda Reber | Calgary\nDaniel Stewart | Revelstoke\nKimberley McNeil | Calgary\nLisa Figueroa | Sicamous\nMarie Moose | Revelstoke\nMichelle Austen | Calgary\nOrion Alexis | Burnaby\nPaulo Majano | Surrey\nSab Curtis | New Denver\nShirley Liu | Golden\nSusie Kathol | Revelstoke\n\n  \n\n\n  \n\n

SUMMARY:Sonoma Art Studio exhibition: Indépendants
DESCRIPTION:Sonoma Art Studio 2025 Student Exhibition: Indépendants\ncSPACE Marda Loop\nGallery Levels 1 and 2\nJuly 8 – 19\, 2025\n9:00 AM – 5:00 PM (Closed on Sunday) \n“Indépendant”\, meaning “independent” in French\, traces its roots back to the Salon des Indépendants\, which began in Paris in 1884. Upholding the motto “Sans jury ni récompense” (“No jury\, no awards”)\, the original exhibition was a bold statement against institutionalized art and authoritative selection processes. It sought to create an open platform where all artists could present their work without restriction. In the same spirit\, our Indépendants exhibition today embraces that tradition. Regardless of genre\, style\, or level of experience\, this space has been curated to allow artists to express their voices freely. The works from Sonoma Art Studio reflect the power of unbounded expression and the authenticity of independent creation. \nWe invite you to experience this celebration of sincerity and artistic freedom— not through the lens of judgement\, but through the discovery of new perspectives and emotional resonance. \nLearn More at: www.artstudiosonoma.com

SUMMARY:Exposure Photography Festival: Alive! She Cried (curated)
DESCRIPTION:Level 1 Hallway Gallery\nFebruary 6 – March 1 \nLive performance photography plays a vital role in the thriving rock and roll music scene\, serving not just as documentation but as an art form unto itself.\nCapturing the fervor\, emotion and charisma of a live performance requires a photographer to have spontaneous artistry\, decisiveness\, and the ability to stay tuned to the music and audience in order to get the perfect picture. Done well\, a live performance photo can become a time capsule\, taking you right to the edge of a stage\, where the pulse of the lights\, the energy of a crowd and movement of the music collide into an iconic still frame. \nAs part of the Exposure Festival\, a collection of Calgary-based photographers present “Alive\, She Cried”\, a celebration of live music\, and the photography that gives the performance life after the stage lights have gone down. Curated by Cary Schatz and Kirsten Aubrey\, the show delivers raw images from the pit.
