SUMMARY:Hallway Gallery: Exposure Photography Festival x The Camera Store
DESCRIPTION:Exposure Photography Festival x The Camera Store\ncSPACE Marda Loop\nAll Levels\nFebruary 4 – February 28\n8:00 AM – 8:00 PM (Closed Sundays) \nReception: February 12 @ 5:30 PM – 8:30 PM | As part of cSPACE Marda Loop’s February Showcase Series \n\nThe Exposure Photography Festival is a month-long celebration of photography across Alberta.\nAs part of The Exposure Festival’s Partner Exhibitions\, The Camera Store will transform cSPACE’s four levels of Hallway Galleries with four compelling exhibitions\, offering a dynamic and meaningful celebration of photography’s lasting influence. \n\nLEVEL 1: My life through the lens – Julian Ferreira Exhibition\nJulian Ferreira\, known in the photographic community for being a passionate advocate of the philosophy “always have a camera with you.” Guided by this belief\, he continually observes and photographs the world around him\, creating images as he moves through his Southern Alberta prairie home. From quiet\, expansive landscapes to subtle moments of light and form\, his work is shaped by an ongoing dialogue between place\, presence\, and perception.  \nWorking primarily as a fine art black-and-white photographer and co-owner of The Camera Store\, Ferreira’s exhibition presents a selection of his most recent work. These photographs offer viewers an intimate glimpse into the way he sees\, thoughtful\, deliberate\, and deeply connected to the land he calls home\, inviting them to slow down and engage with the subtle beauty found in everyday surroundings. \n\nLEVEL 2: Brian Henson Memorial Exhibition\nBrian Henson was a highly regarded fine art photographer based in Calgary\, known for his dedication to traditional photographic processes and his striking hand-printed black-and-white work. He was also a longtime friend of The Camera Store and a valued presence within Calgary’s photographic community. Brian passed away in 2022\, leaving behind a meaningful and enduring legacy of meticulously crafted\, hand-printed and framed photographs that reflect both his artistic vision and his commitment to the medium.  \nIn accordance with the wishes of his estate\, Brian’s work will be offered for sale\, with all proceeds donated to the RESET Society of Calgary. RESET provides a comprehensive and compassionate system of support services in Alberta\, specifically designed to assist women who are survivors of sexual exploitation and human trafficking. Through this initiative\, Brian’s art continues to make a lasting impact\, honouring his legacy while supporting an organization dedicated to healing\, empowerment\, and positive change. \n\nLEVEL 3: Then & Now 30 Years of Calgary Photography\nIn celebration of 30 years within Calgary’s photography community\, The Camera Store is proud to present a special group exhibition. This milestone exhibition highlights the talent\, perspectives\, and creative evolution of Calgary’s photographic scene\, seen through the lenses of a selection of photographers who have helped shape and support it over the past three decades including\, George Webber\, Greg Fulmes\, Greg Gerla\, Jason Stang\, Jeff Bright\, John Dean\, Leah Hennel\, Maja Swannie Jacob\, Mark Vitaris\, Matt and Harry Palmer\, Mike Drew\, Steve Speer\, and\, Todd Korol.  \nThe images are presented side by side\, creating a visual narrative of time\, change\, and creative growth. This exhibition is made possible through the generous sponsorship of Sony Canada\, with additional support from ABL\, the official printing partner of the Exposure Photography Festival.\n \n\nLEVEL 4: The Camera Store Staff Exhibition\nThe Camera Store Staff Exhibition brings together the photographic voices of The Camera Store staff who live and breathe photography every day.  \nThis exhibition showcases a diverse range of work\, reflecting the varied perspectives\, styles\, and stories. From intimate personal projects to moments discovered in everyday life\, each photograph reveals how technical knowledge and creative curiosity intersect when the camera is a tool for expression.  \nThe Camera Store Staff Artists Featured: Ammar Khan\, (AJ) Amair Javaid\, Annabeth Trondsen\, Dave Paul\, Erfan Karimi\, Evelyn Drake\, Kai Niccolls\, May Shi\, Peter Gold\, Ron Bubnich\, Nicole Parker\, Ethan Yawney\, and Yuqi Li.  \n\n

SUMMARY:Hallway Gallery: A Tasting Menu by May B
DESCRIPTION:Hallway Gallery: A Tasting Menu by May B\ncSPACE Marda Loop\nLevel 3 Gallery\nMarch 2 – 30\, 2026\n8:00 AM – 8:00 PM (Closed Sundays) \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nOpening Reception: March 9th 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM \n\n\nAfter years of reflection on how to present herself through her art\, May B drew inspiration from her relationship with food. Having spent much of her life in kitchens\, she began to wonder:\n\nHow would a chef introduce themselves?\n\n‘A Tasting Menu’ is presented as a 12-course menu\, where each painting is a snapshot—a carefully curated plate that blends emotions\, memories\, and circumstances into a singular experience. Every “course” explores her favourite flavours and how they have shaped her. These paintings act as a visual pairing\, crafted to evoke a sensory experience that is deeply personal\, yet universal.\n\n‘A Tasting Menu’ is not just a collection of artworks—it’s an intimate invitation to join her for dinner.

SUMMARY:Hallway Gallery: Holding Ground by Monica Kidd & Eveline Kolijn
DESCRIPTION:Hallway Gallery: Holding Ground by Monica Kidd & Eveline Kolijn\ncSPACE Marda Loop\nLevel 2\nMarch 2 – 27\, 2026\n8:00 AM – 8:00 PM (Closed Sundays) \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nEveline Kolijn and Monica Kidd present a photographic inquiry of coastlines at cSPACE. \nCoastlines are dynamic by nature—meeting places where roads end and the ocean takes over\, where ships arrive and depart carrying both possibility and peril. They are the last stop before the horizon: liminal spaces where the boundary between land and not-land is constantly in flux. They are also increasingly endangered. As the planet warms\, sea levels rise and storms intensify\, threatening the health and wellbeing of more than half a billion people living in coastal regions worldwide. \nThis exhibition features photographs of people and places affected by coastal erosion\, created by Calgary-based artists Monica Kidd and Eveline Kolijn\, both of whom bring deep environmental concerns to their work. The images represent projects undertaken in Newfoundland & Labrador\, the Magdalen Islands\, Tuktoyaktuk\, France\, Fiji\, Vanuatu\, and Curaçao. \nIn a time of rapid climate change\, these photographs aim to speak for the world’s oceans and the communities connected to them. \nOpening Reception: Thursday\, March 5\, 6:00–8:00 PM

SUMMARY:Hallway Gallery: Wild Art by Tanya Bilichenko
DESCRIPTION:Hallway Gallery: Wild Art by Tanya Bilichenko\ncSPACE Marda Loop\nLevel 4 Cupola Gallery\nMarch 2 – 30\, 2026\n8:00 AM – 8:00 PM (Closed Sundays) \nOpening Reception: March 4 | 5:30 PM – 7:00PM \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWild Art is Tanya’s first exhibition\, but painting has been part of her life since childhood.\nFor many years\, Tanya placed her artistic dream gently to the side — focusing on education\, work\, motherhood\, family\, and rebuilding life after forced emigration. Yet through every stage\, art remained my constant light. \nIn her most challenging transitions\, painting became refuge and meditation. Through color and movement\, she processed change\, fear\, hope\, and renewal. Nature and animals inspire me deeply. In their wildness\, she see’s truth\, resilience\, and freedom. Tanya’s work reflects this connection — a dialogue between inner strength and the natural world. \nThis exhibition is not just a presentation of paintings; it is a personal step into courage\, authenticity\, and sharing. \nMore from this artist: art-tanya.com

SUMMARY:Hallway Gallery: Enchanted Matter by Festival of Animated Objects
DESCRIPTION:Hallway Gallery: Enchanted Matter by Festival of Animated Objects\ncSPACE Marda Loop\nLevel 1\nMarch 9 – 20\, 2026\n8:00 AM – 8:00 PM (Closed Sundays) \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n“Enchanted Matter: Puppetry\, animation and magic” invites audiences into a world where imagination brings the inanimate to life. This exhibition celebrates the power of puppetry and video art together; art forms that not only bridge sculpture\, theatre\, and storytelling\, but are also imbued with spells and intention. \nThe artworks featured in this exhibition blur the boundaries between stillness and motion\, material and spirit. They conjure movement within stillness\, give breath to the lifeless\, and awaken the mythical beings within these objects. Each artwork pulses with the intent of its maker\, reflected in the characters\, scenery and videos featured throughout the exhibition. For each of these artists\, the process is just as important as the final creation. Hidden sigils of empowerment\, appreciation for the small things that surround them\, and a reconnection with inner playfulness and whimsy\, all inform what moves these artists to create. \n“Enchanted Matter: Puppetry\, animation and magic” welcomes you to explore the work of Abbey Leach\, Kathy Austin and Stephanie Quilliams\, and to witness the magic that fills the gallery.

SUMMARY:Hallway Gallery: The Long Way Home by Jennifer Gregoire
DESCRIPTION:Hallway Gallery: The Long Way Home by Jennifer Gregoire\ncSPACE Marda Loop\nLevel 1 Gallery\nMarch 30 – April 13\, 2026\n8:00 AM – 8:00 PM (Closed Sundays) \n  \nThe Long Way Home is a collection of some of her favorite stops along those journeys. Each photograph reflects a moment where she chose to slow down and stay awhile. The images carry a sense of history\, nostalgia\, and connection to the land. \nThis work speaks to the importance of the journey as much as the destination. It invites viewers to take their time\, notice what is often overlooked\, and find meaning in quiet\, everyday places. \n  \nAbout the Artist: \n  \nJennifer Gregoire was born and raised in Calgary\, but it wasn’t until she moved to a small rural town that her perspective began to shift. Life slowed down\, the sky felt bigger\, and she found herself drawn to the quiet places in between. \nHer work is rooted in time spent on the road. She explores backroads across Alberta\, stopping whenever something catches her eye. An old truck\, a weathered building\, or a stretch of highway that feels unchanged. What began as a way to explore gradually became a way of seeing and understanding the landscape around her. \nShe often jokes that she is a professional road-tripper\, but in many ways it’s true.
