Discover the creative journey and artistic insights of this talented artist as he shares his passion and process. Don’t miss this chance to engage with the fibre pieces\, ask questions\, and soak in the vibrant atmosphere. Mark your calendars and bring your friends for a delightful experience that celebrates creativity! \nThe Artist Talk will begin with a short introduction to Alberta Fibre Art by Tak Pham\, Curator at the Alberta University of the Arts\, Illingworth Kerr Gallery. \nAfter the Artist talk\, we will be joined downstairs on the second floor\, in the Alberta Craft Gallery by Mackenzie for a short tour of his current exhibition – Drawn. \nMackenzie Kelly-Frère is an artist\, educator and academic living in Mohkinstsis (Calgary). The exhibition examines cloth as a contextual object\, enmeshing ways of thinking and being in the natural world. Kelly-Frère draws on his lived experience of both the Canadian Prairie and a recent artist residency in Blonduos\, Iceland\, to create cloth that reflects situated materialities and our connections to place. \nThis is a free event and everyone is welcome to attend.
